Karina is introducing sculptural clay to her collection of works. She has always enjoyed sculpting wood and now endeavors to utilize the malleability of clay and the colors of glazes that she learns to mix herself. A step in a direction she has been hoping for for quite a few years, she hopes to continue to incorporate the aspects of the forest and nature she so loves and respects. Earth Gems Wood Sculptures start with wood and burls collected from the woods of the Arkansas valley of Colorado. We are blessed in this valley with Aspen, Rocky Mountain Juniper, Bristle cone pine, Russian olive, and many other beautiful woods. These woods are naturally cured producing the different colors and textures that we only hope to enhance with our process. They're then masterfully sculpted into the fine, natural wooden creations we are proud to call Earth Gems.
